They mention that they often see twin sleigh beds from the late 19th century but rarely a period full sleigh bed from the early 19th century! This stunning bed measures a total height at the head-board of 51 1/2inches, height of the foot-board measures 23 inches,the height to the flat portion of the side rails measure 13 inches, The outside measurements of the bed are 55 1/2 inches wide by a total length of 91 inches,and the inside mattress area measures 52 inches wide by 70 1/2 inches long. This is a very heavy, well crafted bed that is very solid and tight and is just as pretty from the back as it is the front and would be fantastic placed in the center of a large bedroom allowing this early 19th century bed to be the focal point! This sleigh bed has wonderful sloped , graceful lines that allow this bed to resemble a real sleigh as it was designed after.
